Hi All

I am after Perth to Singapore classic reward seats with Qantas around 6th December. I have been looking into this since last year and nothing is available (from June 2023 onwards). When Qantas announced they will release more reward seats for second half of 2023 in Feb, I was so excited but realised that it was only up to 28 November 2023 and the same with all other Australian cities it seems.

Obviously no one knows if Qantas will release more during the year but does anyone remember or booked any reward seats between Australian Cities to Singapore with Qantas direct last December 2022? That way i can decide whether i should pay cash price instead of keep waiting. Understand that what happened in 2022 may not happen again in 2023 but worth asking

Thank you!

Do you have any frequent flyer status?
There is no way of knowing if the airline will release more FF seats.

Also note that December is getting to peak travel -while the public schools don't break until 15Dec, the university breaks end of Nov and private schools around then as well.

Have you considered via a different city?

Do you have points that you can convert to SQ KrisFlyer?

I'm WP and struggle with reward tickets to Singapore around peak times, the ticket price is ridiculous as well. Have chosen Scoot to Singapore and then reward tickets from there.

Did manage to get one via HKG with CX, a bit of a milk run, however as soon as I started getting multiple time changes I cancelled.

I can see via DPS but not ideal as i have connecting flight to Japan at 10pm.

And no Krisflyer or Velocity as well as I am collecting Qantas only.

I forgot to check if there was any Qantas reward seats December last year as that woukd at least give an indication

I've always had difficulty securing Reward seats between PER and SIN. If I go via SIN I pay the Y class fare on QF to get me and family to SIN and then use rewards seats in J or Y from SIN to North America / Asia / Europe.

(Hence pre-COVID we always used CX via HKG where availability even in peak times was not too bad... we often managed to find four J seats available PER-HKG and then HKG to North America / Asia / Europe. I hope CX can return to its former glory... :) )

$1200+ in Y one-way in June/July when I need to travel, crazy prices and pretty much at capacity as well.

@24_se7en I booked in the February release a reward seat SIN-PER in business for 7 Dec, but I didn't look at the other direction at all.

Not sure that helps your original Qeustion

Yeah i noticed that. Surprisingly the other way around has some availability.
Just like last time when they released for first half of 2023, i can see Perth to Sin up to 1 June 2023 but then i can see Sin to Per up to 1-2 week of June.

As an indication, last year there were still 7 reward seats in Business on 31 Dec from BNE-SIN (not unexpected as it's not an ideal day for travel), and some available on 30 Dec, right up into December. There are still reward seats for both BNE-SIN in Economy and PER-SIN in Business on 31 Dec this year too.

Obviously well after the dates you are looking for, but as an indication that's about all I could find last year and it seems to be the same this year.

Seems as though QF is just releasing award seats in batches, rather than the traditional 297/323/353, and it doesn't look like they've released any Classic Rewards for Dec travel and beyond (find it hard to believe there's J availability on Syd-many Asian destinations until 30 Nov, then it's all gone). Might be worth setting up an expert flyer alert?

Yes that does appear to be the case in my searches I've been doing for Mar 24 alas.

Yeah when they released back in Feb. I saw 25 and 31 Dec 2023 Per-Sin. Guess that's all they will release for Dec. At least for now anyway

Reward seats in/out of SIN from/to Oz have been all over the shop the last six months or so. BKK and CGK also.

Last year, I had no trouble getting SYD-SIN//SIN-PER (o/n)-SYD in July no drama. This year, everything evaporated from early June onwards. QF71/72 completely went MIA in my searches - over several months. Ended up booking DPS-PER (JQ)-SYD 😔 this July.

Somehow we managed to get SYD-SIN (J) return in Nov during the big reward seats release despite the website meltdown!

It depends on your destination. For Singapore, Qantas releases them just just few months (i reckon not more than 3months but you gotta check) before travel date. I booked mine from Brisbane to sg last month. Travel is next week
