Qantas Rewards Cancellation EK Flights. Seat Availability?

Hi there,

I have an upcoming Qantas Rewards booking on EK where I am on Y and then F.

I have seen availability show up for F in the first leg but Qantas has been unable to book me into it due to married segments.

If I cancel my current booking, how likely will my F seat in the second leg become available again such that I can rebook in F for both legs?

Thanks!

Why can't QF waitlist the first segment and then have EK confirm the change through the liaison?

They can request marries segment override and I've had it done before in a situation where we had two connecting F flights but wanted to change the departure port.

You would, however, need a knowledgable agent.

Unfortunately this has never been an option presented to me. It's always been that they would have to cancel the whole booking to put me in F for the first leg, which is a non-starter.

Current availability for the same flight is F and then Y, whereas my current booking is Y and then F, hence my predicament of wanting to potentially cancel my flight to free up the F in the second leg.
