Those prices look too good to be true. Presumably they are ex surcharges and VAT?

I just did a dummy booking Sep 3-Sep 17 ; interestingly on the flight over a First Saver is cheaper than Business:!:

Those are killer prices. Now if only I had some $5000 lying around somewhere to spend :( :( :(

excuse my ignorance, but can aussie based fliers benefit from this?

I think not. It's part of the game to fill otherwise empty seats in one direction. I understand that seats are pretty tight at the moment heading to Europe, and, possibly, not on the return journey.
There was a similar post recently how passengers get cheaper fares flying to Oz from the US than vice versa. Having said that, some clever people do book through foreign websites to take advantage of the cheaper fares. I'm not that clever .....

It's all about nesting trips, if you're AU based...

Surely you must be! If you can book a fare on the Internet, then you can do it on an "overseas" website. If you can't use the internet (but wait, you are doing), then it's another matter. Oh, and the other issue is that you have to have a valid credit card with an appropriate credit limit

Then you can't miss (unless you book with some unscrupulous, fly by night travel agent).

If you can book on expedia.com.au (maybe you can't?), you can book on expedia.co.uk or expedia.com (58% owned by Barry Diller) or whatever. These people are quite reputable and engage in fair business practices, such as processing refunds in a timely manner.

Or maybe you just had your tongue firmly planted in your cheek...

;)

here's a fare that might interest someone.

Etihad DUB-SYD-DUB September, GBP 2733.30 R/T in Business Class. FWIW you can save hundreds of dollars by flying out of DUB, as their taxes are much lower, and possibly enjoy a few days in the Emerald Isle to boot...

I did look into this. As has been mentioned above you have to nest trips, that is plan several returns in advance so you can take advantage of the fares. The fares, aside from that, are legitimate but they are heavily controlled: non-refundable, no date changes, no upgrades.

If you know your flight patterns to the day a year in advance for this kind of route then you're set, but otherwise they are a bit of a risk.
