Hi,

Just a question regarding seat allocation with Qantas. Have just made a booking LHR-MEL return for August in Business with Qantas. When I look at the booking on the Qantas website there is no seat mentioned in the booking. When you look at the booking through Checkmytrip or BA we have seats 17a and b going over and 13j and K going back. Have we been allocated these seats or not since it does not show on the Qantas site. In the past we have always received the seats that showed on Checkmytrip but I think they previously showed on Qantas as well.

I don't remember my J seats being displayed under QF.

Hi,

I have found that the QF website only shows your seat allocation, if you have requested and been allocated a specific seat. At the time you book your flight a seat is allocated automatically, and can be seen on checkmy trip, but not on QF. However, once you ring QF and get a specific seat allocated, that seat is then shown on QF.

Being a WP, my international seating is normally pre-allocated automatically upon booking and generally does show on Qantas.com for simple itineraries without any further effort.

It's when there's two or more PAX in the booking or multi flights where it becomes inconsistent. I believe the max number of seats it will show is 4.

For example the seating showing on Qantas.com for a LONE4 we have booked is for some of the BA flights, none of the seats for the qantas flights are appearing there.

I have been able to see most seat allocations on the QF website under "Manage Your Booking" since last year, possibly earlier. I have not been able to see seat allocations for AA flights and CX only bookings have never appeared on the QF website.

I have a one-way booking SYD-AKL and another one-way booking CHC-SYD and both of these bookings are showing the actual seat allocations on the QF website. I was allocated 24B for both of these flights and last week I requested exit rows for both flights and within a few hours it was showing 34B for both flights. I also have a British Airways booking for travel in WT+ and I can see the actual seat allocations on the QF website in "Your Booking".

Seat Preference: 21B / 21B

I've had it go both ways on Qantas.com - it has been there sometimes, not other times.

I have found checkmytrip.com to be wrong on occasion especially in the last 24-36 hours. The BA website though has always been spot on - it captures changes that the QF computer/yield people make in that crucial 24 hour period before flight departure.
