Qantas selective FF promotions

It might be just me, and you can tell me I am being unreasonable if you think I am, but........ Over the weekend during a casual conversation at the Rugby, I became aware that Qantas has offered selective FF members double Status Credits for flights between April 1 and June 30 (or thereabouts). I called the FF Centree today to ask about it and was told it was a promotion to get people who had significantly reduced their flying to get back in the air. It begs the question, what are they doing for those of us who are still travelling or are we just taken for granter (again).

If you are flying, is there really any need to offer you a promotion to keep you in the air?

It is quite common in loyalty programs to target particular members with particular promotions, so there is nothing unusual about this.

See this thread for lots of comments on this Qantas double SC promo, as well as the nature of the targeting.

It seems Qantas does not believe they need to do any special for people who are already showing their loyalty, beyond the normal issue to FF benefits.
