Qantas shares defy profit plunge | The Australian

QANTAS Airways posted a worse-than-expected 88 per cent fall in net profit today and warned the outlook remained volatile.

Australia’s largest airline by revenue and passengers carried couldn't say if it expected to remain profitable this financial year given global economic conditions.

There was a thread on this but i'm not sure where it's gone? Anyway the shares have done well today!

no news has opened up the comments so people who have no idea what they are talking about can have their say:

If the Airline had of kept everything in Australia to start with instead of trying to cut costs they would have still had customers that wanted to fly with them. Qantas used to be renowned for excellent service and reliability. Since changing to overseas there haave been a lot more incidents and the money is not staying in Australia so a lot more people are inclined to go with other airlines. They need to worry less about the profits and more on trying to keep the planes in the air so people will fly with them again. Posted by: Beck 12:28pm today

How many planes have dropped out of the air?

Good thing all those overseas airlines get their planes serviced in Australia isn't it?
