Hey all, I was looking into using my points to book some domestic flights within the US this December.

We're planning on going to Alaska on 9/12/2011.

The Qantas website is showing a nonstop flight that day, AS157 with Alaskan Airlines, but I was under the impression that the nonstop flights are seasonal and do not fly in December. So I called Qantas, they said that flight was real and ok to book. Then I called Alaskan and they said they can't see that flight and it isn't available. But in their flight schedule it says they do run that flight once a week.

Where do I get a straight answer? What would happen if I booked the flight using my points and it turned out not to be real?

I'd love to believe it was real so we don't have to spend a whole day travelling, but I'm very hesitant to book it.

Hi - provide some more info - eg, dates, route etc and others can have a look for you as well.

Also, Im surprised you can get award flights to the US this late in the year for DEC, my advice, if you can see the flights, take them!

LOL, sorry forgot the major details, was concentrating too much on how to type the question so it made sense!

We need LAX to ANC 9/12/11.

Have not been able to find a nonstop flight anywhere except for Qantas. It seems to good to be true. We've already bought our flights from SYD to LAX, just looking to cut costs elsewhere.

I agree munitalP. Once QF have it ticketed it. The have an obligation to get you to your ticketed destination. Regardless of if that particular flight is real or not :)

That's true they are obligated to get me there, but would be a bit worried about how they would go about doing it. Do they have to notify you? I'm afraid we would rock up the airport to a flight that doesn't exist on a partner airline.

They will get in contact with you via the details you enter at the time of booking.

I see it too but when going to payment I get (and have seen it for many of the non-bookable tickets):

Please review the following items

  • We are unable to confirm the fare for the flights you have selected. Please cancel these segments and choose a different fare or flights and resubmit your confirmation request. (15012)

It means that something is wrong and possibly the flight does not even exist. Call Qantas!
