Qantas Skybed in PE? BNE-LAX

Hi all, I've read somewhere that WPs often get allocated a skybed seat on this segment. Does anyone have experience with this?

I am WP and looking to book a PE return but was unsure whether the seat can be chosen at time of booking or is something that happens at check in.

Appreciate any help...

That was last years PE 'value', now that the refurbished birds are flying, this is not happening anymore due to new seating configuration.
I take PE to LAX from BNE 3-4 times per year, get an op-up most flights, especially LAX-BNE.
