Qantas staff threatening industrial action

What do people think about some of the reports that Qantas staff might start taking industrial action if they don't get job security guarantees and AJ saying there's no chance? I am off on my 3 month RTW OW award trip in a couple of months and having to book other air fares while overseas and accommodation and all...

I will have travel insurance with my credit card which hopefully should cover any costs due to stuffed holiday plans if flights were disrupted, but is anyone taking this into account in their planning? i don't really have the option of changing my flights into and out of Australia on to other OW carriers as Qantas are one of only two to fly direct Syd to South America and LAN all booked up and Qantas is the only OW airline to fly South Africa back to Australia direct (don't have mileage under the award to go via HK)

Certainly aware of the reports, have travel booked to/from NZ next month, just have to see what eventuates. Obviously a RTW is much more significant, hope any proposed action does not affect you (or anybody for that matter - i.e. I hope there is no action at all)

About 5 months before I head to the LOTFAP, and outside of School Hols so hopefully should be safe from any action.
