I am 60 points short of getting to the next level of status with Qantas. I am just after the cheapest way to earn 60 status points by Jan 20 2012.

Sorry I should have put this on. It needs to be out of Brisbane. I guess the issue is with the strikes the prices and points have risen.

Do you have a heap of points? You could do a business class return to ADL rom SYD that would net 60 SCs at low cost but using up points.

JASA BNE-MEL (or reverse) is 60 SC - then just pick up a cheap flight back.
Alternatively, BNE-MEL-BNE in Y Flexi = 60 SC.
Hmm - or you could look for the cheap Qantaslink flights... and do a few of them.
Cheers

Only paying cash from Brisbane you could do a return trip to Perth via Sydney with the current special can be had for $567 in early Dec.

Jetstar have a special on from Gold Coast to Tokyo which ends tonight. A Starter plus fare return with no luggage can be had for $479. This will earn 60 status credits.

If you have some frequent flyer points spare you can go with an any seat award. BNE-xSYD-OOL can be done for a low net points and there is a trick to get a mix of Qantas Business and Jetstar max that will earn you 60 SCs total. And you can get the train back to Brisbane.

Your status date is always the end of the month, I would wait for a Xmas sale and then grab a cheap coastal run to TSV via ROK and MKY in late Jan, probably 300 all up.

JNRT, I know how you feel.....I have a similar problem, but need 315 more points to get to the next level, Platinum, by Dec 1 2011...

Jetstar has flights from BNE-CHC from about $320 return (with bundle, no luggage). Not sure if the Status Credit earn is 50 or 60.

Which status do you want to get?

Looks like no need to wait til Xmas, 40 SC for $166 with enough time on the way up to squeeze a quick return back to BNE then back to ROK for $250-$260 in total:
