I was talking to my travel agent on the weekend and she said some pax booked and paid on Qantas flight to VN (code share with VN Airlines who operated the route SYD - SGN) were put on Jetstar flight. They were not happy because food and drink were included in Y class for Qantas / VN Airlines, when they went to Jetstar they had to pay for these!

I'm not surprised. If they complain to QF they may be lucky and get a bottle of wine by way of apology. I wouldn't expect anything more.

This sounds strange to me. If moved to a Jetstar international flight, then they would normally be switched to a QF codeshare flight number on the Jetstar operated flight. And all QF codeshare passengers receive meals included in their ticket with Jetstar international flights.

Not sure, but travel agent said some VNese people prefer to buy tickets to VN with QF (higher fares) - these are not QF operated flights but VN Airlines operated, because they get seats allocated towards the front or middle of the plane and not at the back of the plane. Over the holiday period VN Airlines was overbooked due to many VNese people going home visiting their families and QF had to move some to Jetstar and somehow these people had to pay for food and drink on Jetstar because they were in economy.

I may be an "informed" passenger, but I would have asked to put onto the QF flight number and ensured meals were included. It can be done, just as they do for QF FF award flights on Jetstar international flights. Or at least to have the meal pre-purchased by the airline making the move.

NM, does that apply to award tickets too?
I've booked an award HNL-SYD flight later this year, with a QF flight number (QF386), and assumed we would have to pay for meals.
Do you know if entertainment (ie: that portable video thing) is included too, or just meals?

Cheers,
- Febs.

Yes indeed. QF FF award passengers are booked on the QF codeshare and receive meals, blankets and headphones. In fact, this is generally the only reason the QF codeshare exists on the Jetstar International flights (to accommodate QF FF awards).

Also, the QF codeshares on Jeststar flights can be used with various oneWORLD RTW and CIRCLE trip products by PAX not originating in Australia and New Zealand.
