They were all already VH to start with
Actually G-A to start with. G for British Commmonwealth. A for Australia, E for England, C for Canada

Later on...
V aqpparently identifies radio stations?
This was divided into
VH - aircraft /civilian??
VI - coastal radio stations
VK - amateur radio

Some say the V was attributed to another woman Queen Vistoria.

Some say, which is why India's airplanes rego is VT - Victoria (or Viceroy) Territory (or similar). There was a news article early this year to have this changed to something else - to severe ties/references to colonial past.

Others say the V (and the VH) was just the country code assigned by ICAO. Not necessarily any meaning in that.

Most countries that used to share G got moved to V, to give the UK exclusive use of G. Some have since moved again out of V (eg Singapore), and at least one example of someone moving into V (Vietnam)

Still others maintain that Qantas' Tail numbers are a nod to the current CEO, Vanessa Hudson whose initials are VH 😂
