... QANTAS has blamed rising fuel costs and industrial disputes for an expected fall in first-half profit.

Qantas has revealed the recent industrial dispute wiped $194 million off its bottom line in the first half of 2011-12.

The figure includes $27 million lost from forward bookings, $29 million in customer recovery initiatives and $70 million from the impact of the global fleet grounding.

Another $68 million was lost prior to the grounding, from flight cancellations and delays.

CEO Alan Joyce said had the industrial action continued further, the cost to Qantas would have grown to $85 million a month. ...
 
I wonder how many forward bookings were lost because of the Virgin revamp and status match?
