One of the annoying things is that there are now three airlines flying the Middle East/Australia route non-stop (Emirates, Qatar and Etihad), but none of them give QFF points.

Can anyone see Qantas ever flying into the Middle East - either using Dubai as a stopover to London or flying into Amman to give passengers access to Royal Jordanian's Middle East network (and maybe using Amman as a stopover to London)?

With the Middle Eastern carriers offering so many non-stop flights there must be something in it? There could be a few spare 747-400's sitting around too with the A380's running now.

I've created a poll to see what you all think might happen.

QF flying Perth - Amman would sure suit me nicely even if it was only 3 days a week.

Umm.. with so many options to the Middle East why not just use them. QF does offer Middle East flights on a codeshare

Are they offering status credits and miles on them? (I presume it is Etihad)? If a passenger flew Australia to Abu Dhabi - Amman on Etihad would they have to claim and then recheck baggage in Amman to fly Amman - Sharm el Sheik? If the answers are no then I can't see any benefit - certainly the codeshare isn't going to give me my QFF increased checked baggage limits.

All QF codeshares earn miles and SC's that I am aware of, including launch transfers and trains.

OK that's good to know as there doesn't seem to be any mention of Etihad on the QFF webpages. It would still be a pain in the butt though as I don't believe that Etihad fly into PER so I would have to fly PER - MEL or SYD first to pick up Etihad. (I can't get Etihad's webpage to load at all at the moment to check).

Unless RJ start doing non stop to PER I'm still looking a minimum of 3 legs from PER to Sharm no matter who I use.
