Hi all,

I've got a question to ask regarding a Qantas voucher I won and a way that I can extend the expiry date.

The story so far - Last year I won a trip for two to Cairns which included flights and accomodation. The great thing was the cost of the flights were given to me as a Qantas voucher for the cost of two return flights to Cairns fully flexible !! So of course I booked the flights at the cheapest price and the balance of the voucher was given back to me to use as I see fit on any Qantas flight :) So we've been doing a bit of tripping around this year!

The expiry date on the voucher is only two weeks away, and there is still about $600 left on the voucher to use, but as we are having problems getting time off work and setting a date we're unable to lock in a time that we can use the remaining amount on the voucher...

So, I noticed on the Qantas site that if (and tell me if this is possible with using the voucher) I book a fully flexible flight somewhere before the voucher expires, and then at a later stage cancel that booking I can use that booking reference as a 'credit' towards another flight, effectively exending the time I can use the remaining $600?

I realise there will be booking and rebooking fees, but $600 is a lot to just let expire.

Just to sumerise - book a fully flexible flight berfore the voucher expires. Cancel that fully flexible flight (if I can't travel then ;) ) and can I use that cancelled flight booking number as a credit towards any other flight.

And if this can be done, how long have I got to use that credit from the fully flexible flight?

Or - is there another way around this?

Thanks heaps, tricky question that I bet doesn't come up very often !

Even doing it on a red e-deal would be fine, and cheaper in the long run, based on one change. Just make sure you change the flight date more than 24 hours before hand
