Singapore to Rome Business Class is $2K cheaper on Emirates than Qantas. Why would anyone choose Qantas?

QF to Rome would be codeshare on CX anyway. Maybe if you needed the SCs to requal for SG or WP? Or maybe someone else is paying for it!

There are two guys in this office who are top level SQ flyers doing lots of Asia and Middle East flights - always J. Both have had a number of bad experiences with Emirates J in the last two years and will never fly with them again. The problems were not just the poor in-flight service.

We use EK, for our travel to Europe, because we go to Newcastle and Glasgow. So we fly direct, yes the service is not the best, and the Planes (out of Melbourne ) are old. But for travel thru out Asia, we use Singapore. The service in wonderful, and the planes are new, particularly the China service. As for Qantas, well I like a little service when I fly, and I like my FA to have some manners. This is something that is missing with Qantas in flight service. And before you all start to jumping up and down, and call me bad names. I used Qantas last year, and the FA's all need a kick in the A...

There have been the odd occasion where I've thought this about some QF FA's, but for the most part over the last 2 years, I believe the service has improved dramatically. For my recent flights in PE to HKG they were outstanding, and even my recent domestic legs the crews have been great. I think the average age is starting to look a bit younger as well - maybe they're poaching a few of Richard Branson's crews as they get too old for the Virgin brands, but are still too young for American Airlines or United!

Thanks pshepvic. Unfortunately we're paying for it ourselves, would love to get the SCs though!

Thanks pblackm. Since your post have done a lot of reading in this forum re Emirates. Don't know why I didn't do that before. Have almost gone off the Emirates idea.

I agree with you re Qantas FAs generally, although I usually fly Economy. The few times I've flown in Business the service seems to be better, but they sure could learn a lot about service from SIA. Thanks for your reply.

Considering that SIN-HKG-FCO would be codeshare, have you checked the CX website to see if they do it cheaper?
If it is cheaper, you still get the SC's.
Just an idea:confused:

Or near retirement , which often seems the case with BA FA's!

I will check that out Mannej, thanks!

Yes you can keep the BA FA's. But I recently did a BNE-LAX-BNE flight with QF in J, and found the crew to be acceptable in service and disposition, a change from my previous travels with them three years ago.
Also did three sectors with UA stateside in PE, and the girls were great even if they averaged around sixty in the water-bag.
Hmmmm, could be my age makes them seem young.

Cheers Dee

Of course so it's a value for money issue.

In that case fly EY and then upgrade the first three days in Rome to a suite in the middle of the piazza!

EY do not fly to FCO..........but Qatar airways do, that would probably be the pick.

Thanks for you replies everyone. Still deciding which way to go. All those SCs and points are tempting, plus my husband is really keen to fly on the A380 so Qantas may get our money!
