Here’s an account of my last 34 hours away from home. The trip was bought about by me needing to urgently visit a couple of our work sites in Adelaide and Perth yesterday from my base in Canberra.
To give me something to do with the time I snapped pictures of the Qantas meals which, with the exception of dinner last night, provided all of my sustenance for the trip.
A nice early start leaving home at 0445 to get to CBR airport in time to have some breakfast in the lounge. Gluten free muesli with soy milk (nice that they just leave it out now and don’t make you ask for it).

We begin the trip in earnest on the 0600 QF713 to Adelaide on VH-VYA a 737-800 without the cabin upgrade. Time for breakfast #2 which include something called a malted grain muffin. Tasted a far bit like cardboard. Washed down with OJ and a black tea.

Landed into ADL at 0720 then off to work. Back at the airport at 1030 and the lounge was still serving breakfast so just a cup of tea for me (no photo).
1130 on to QF587, VH-VXY, and another 737-800 without the cabin upgrade so we watched the Silver Linings Playbook on the tiny flip down screens. Lunch arrives and it was a choice between beef pie and sweet & sour chicken. I chose the chicken.

Arrived into Perth at 1330 off to work again then back to the Hyatt for the night. Decided not to order the full breakfast in my room at $41..

Woke up at stupid o’clock a bit disorientated with the time difference and decided to head to the airport rather than waste time in the hotel room. The club was chockers and I sat back to kill a couple of hours. Same muesli and soy milk combo for breakfast today.

I had put in for a points upgrade but was rejected so I shuffled down to seat 28B on QF576, VH-EBP, A330-200. Breakfast #2 was bacon, beans, scrambled eggs and spinach. Not too bad.

A couple of movies later we arrive into Sydney earlier than expected and I manage to move my flight to CBR forward 40 minutes. Settle down for a sandwich and a Jameson’s.

On the home straight onto QF1485 the dash 8 service. Afternoon snack was delivered along with a ginger beer. The box had a chocolate, some cheese, biscuits and pickle. Tasty enough.

1550 back in Canberra. A long trip.
