just wondering if I start flying LAX-SYD-LAX more in the future booking through AA (aiming to become EXP), does this mean that my Qantas WP is not recognised in flight (noise cancelling headphones, priority pass through customs etc), or do oneworld airlines recognise emeralds regardless of the booking codes or airlines they qualified through. In other words when the FA does their thing and greets the WPs in Y do they also greet the AA EXPs as well.

Why do you want status with AA? I had a few J and Y flights in Feb with AA and I thought the product was terrible. AA should be pulled from OW. The J product is a joke, and the planes are decrepit. I received no love as a WP, nothing like the love EXP receive on QF.

I spend a lot of time in the US for family reasons, the AA complimentary upgrades are appealing, and the mileage points with AA seem to go a lot further than QF, a lot of the future flights will be US to Europe so we can use BA or Iberian J and hopefully F on BA, you have to earn so many more miles to do this with QF compared to AA.

I would assume that since you're trying to qualify on AA, you won't have your QF number in the booking, so there would be no way to recognize you as a OWE?

Search for FQTS & FQTV ...

Other than that try to get them to switch to your AA number after check-in.

Do WPs get noise cancelling headphones on QF int flights in Y? I thought it was just the express pass through customs and a greeting...

Some times, I generally get them after a meet'n greet from the CSM.

Come to think of it I already had a pair of NCHs on when the CSM came around last time.
Have any WPs received J amenity kits/pyjamas when in Y? Or is that for CL only?

Get what you mean, never knew that you could split like this, so I guess the acid test when I am in the US in a few days doing domestic flying to see if I can get my AA boarding pass with my AA number to show that I am emerald as well.

The problem with the former (as has been pointed out on another thread) is the difficulty agents seemingly have with getting the process right.

The problem with the latter (which I do regularly) is it's my understanding the passenger manifest will be printed with the details in the system at the time boarding is completed, not the status used at the time of check-in. So in my case I'm going from checking in as a OWE with QF to a OWS with AA.

As a mere OWS with AA i feel the love more on AA than mrsdrron feels on QF as a WP.
Also AA even before bankruptcy had begun replacing old airframes-that process is being accelerated.
On top of that you get a lot more as an AA EXP than a QFF WP.For example the OP wants to fly US-Europe.You can upgrade using your AA miles on BA and IB-cant do that with QFF points.

I certainly got the feeling that with AA status in the US is a BIG thing. I don't get the same feeling with QF.
