Has anyone had any luck in having Qantas release paid/commercial/revenue seats for a Platinum QFF?

There is a Premium Economy special at the moment which books into (T) class. There was less (T) than the number of seats I need so it all shows as Waitlisted.

I rang QF to ask them and I felt I was treated less favourably than someone ringing up wanting a points upgrade! I was told there was nothing that could be done but that I would have to wait until, if at all, yield felt like dealing with the matter.

What have others experiences been?

How long do things sit in "waitlisted" before they move to "confirmed"?

Last week I booked SYD-LAX and SFO-SYD into I class.
I simply rang QF seeking I class fares and the Premium desk found what I wanted on the day of departure but SYD-LAX and not MEL-LAX.
And without the need to travel on QF25/26 which was also available.
Have delayed my return by 2 extra days to pick up another I fare.
Very quick and easy
Thanks to Serty will be doing a same day jaunt SFO-LAX-SEA-LAX-SFO during my now 4 days in SFO before reurning as a 300 SC mileage run in F!
