Okay - I have no issue with Qantas and their Alliance partnership, most of the flights I have been on in the past have been pretty good - allowing for some consideration that the arrangement was new, and there were some learnings.
Now, we are well into the partnership - flying today on QF1865 DRW-MEL ... just absolute cough service.
Now, admittedly, most in J would have been Upgrades - I would have hated to have paid for the fare ... though, mind you, the amount I paid for a Y fare, and then upgraded, it might as well have been J pricing.
The FA looking after the J cabin disappeared completely once everything from the meal service was cleared (this was approx the 2 hour mark ... its a 4 hour 20 min flight) ... vanished ... no reappearance, I don't know why, but I was in no mood to press the call button - so fool me ... but nonetheless.
I should say though, up until that point - no huge issues ... everything came out, completely scripted performance - but tick tick tick.
Nothing post mains - no water, no refills, everything cleared ... where is my Maggie Beer ?! (first world issues, I don't really care, but its the expectation of the cabin that there is at least some attendance / availability to the passengers).
Anyway - what topped it off ... I was seated in 3E ... but politely offered for 2E to take my seat and sit next to her child ... so was in 2E ... seat was fine ... but we had 3A with an infant.
Now, you have a passenger with an infant in J ... many other instances in the past, the hostie has found some way to assist the passenger during the meal service, during other times throughout the flight etc ... nothing at all.
... and to top it off, we had 3A do the nappy change in 3A.
FFS - again, to reiterate, none of the issues above are huge, and I was tired / happy to just doze there - but the point of the FA having some presence, when the nappy changing scenario occurred, you would have thought that the FA would have politely intervened and suggested discreetly to the pax that there was a baby change facility in the J lav ...
No FA, no help ... no care factor.
