Hi all,

I'm looking at return flights from ARM to MAD or SVQ in J class. SYD to MAD on QF is just under $11K, but add the ARM-SYD leg in Y, costs jump above $12k. How can I get around the forced flexi fare cost for this leg? Will 2 separate bookings that are then linked post sale do the trick?

Flying non QF partner from SYD-MAD brings cost of J <$9k. ARM-SVQ flights are confusing our corporate booking tool - LHR/LGW transfers, prices >$17k (and deemed within policy), yet SYD-SVQ are ~$10k. Costs of living in the country😂

I experience this too. Even domestic, where there may be a business sale such as SYD-MEL for $450 (and ARM-SYD is around $170-200) but adding on the QLink economy only sector then bumps up the fare to $1300+. I get around it by buying two fares, and leaving sufficient time for transfer in case of delay.

When booking ARM-SYD-xx_ anywhere international I now always book ARM-SYD separate for the day before and overnight at SYD to ensure I don't miss the flight and because often the SYD international flight departs late morning or around lunch time and I don't want to take the 6.30am flight (which is also most likely to be delayed). Worth the extra ~$200 as insurance
