Despite A380 A7-APG on QR908 arriving on time into SYD (1845 hours) on Monday 6 November 2017, the return flight, QR909 (due out at 2145 hours) still had not departed by 2245.

UPDATE: Despite the Sydney Airport website showing it as having departed at 2230, QR909 had not done so by 2301 hours.

FURTHER UPDATE: By 2308 hours, the aircraft had begun to taxi.  It took off at 2320 hours.

While these large Airbuses are far from the noisiest aircraft and there is the significant issue of 300 - close to 500 passengers depending on the configuration of twin aisle aircraft who would be adversely affected, some local residents might suggest that the SYD curfew exists for a reason.  Despite 'the delegate' approving such late takeoffs provided they depart to the south, locals may well not have a unanimous view that such exemptions should be granted.

Anthony Albanese (Labor, Grayndler in the House of Reps.) might not support many of these exemptions: he may well be the next Minister for Transport come 2019.
