Hi all,

Hoping to seek some advice from the great minds here at AFF.

My partner and I have booked paid business class (R) flights from Clark - Rome - Istanbul - Manila flying Qatar later this year (a bargain at $2300 each!). This is a rarity for me as we normally use points and reward seats for premium bookings and my career never requires travel. Because of this I am just a lowly Qantas Bronze and have no status with any other airline.

I have checked out the Mileage Calculators etc and it looks like we'd be earning around 13k Qantas Points and 310 status credits each so enough for Silver which might help slightly with the 2021 reward flight bookings. Some other considerations are making a BA account and transferring to Avios and the fact Qatar is currently offering 10 000 bonus Qmiles via the Privilege Club for new sign ups. (although I already have an account hmmmm)

Just wondering if there was any better bang-for-buck in regards to where to earn points and status within One World that would be of use to us in Australia...

I’m sure others will be more specific, but when I asked this question, the best ‘points value’ was to credit to BA. Obviously, whether you would prefer status is another matter.
