Qatar flight - Qantas/Oneworld FF's experiences?

Hi All,

I'm flying with Qatar at the end of the year in economy and whilst I believe that the sale fare type (N) I've booked doesn't attract SC's or FF points (annoying!), I was wondering how the experience has been for other Qantas/OneWorld FF's in terms of any other benefits? op-ups? preferred seating? priority boarding? anything? At the time of flying I will be QF SG/OW Sapphire.

I know what the OneWorld page says, but know that what it says and what is delivered are two very different things. I also recognise that I've booked one of the cheapest farse and I'm not expecting much, just wondering what those that have traveled before me have experienced?

Qatar generally do the absolute minimum required for OW flyers in Economy.

You'll get priority check-in and priority boarding. As a OWE (BA Gold) I usually notice the seat next to me blocked where possible - but that doesn't seem to flow down to OWS, but you never do know your luck.

Lounge wise, in Doha, you won't have access to their better Business lounge, as the Al Safwa (first) and Al Mourjan (Business) lounges are reserved for passengers in those cabins. There are seperate Business and First lounge in Doha for OWE and OWS. These are pretty basic. Likewise in LHR, as OWE/OWS, you don't get access to the Qatar lounge, but instead are sent to the Skyteam lounge.

I usually get a greeting as OWE onboard in Y, but this also doesn't tend to be extended to OWS.

In summary, Qatar will do the bare minimum, and really reserve their love for those flying in J and F.

Anyone know how upgrades are ranked?

I seem to have no luck with points upgrades - my status is Qatar gold.

Does a points upgrade trump a complimentary upgrade due to overbooking on full fare economy ticket?
