Qatar seat selection (on VA ticket)

Hi there

Booked a return flight to Europe on VA ticket.

Outbound leg is Business Comfort (D)
Return leg is Business Elite (C)

Per their fare types, I should be able to select my seats (without a fee) for both legs. Except I can only select them for the return leg.

I've called both VA & QR...Virgin say "call Qatar", Qatar say "call Virgin".

What am I (and VA/QR) missing?

How are you trying to select them at the moment?

Your reservation email should’ve given you the QR PNR and if you go to Qatar Privilege Club (join if you have to) and put the QR PNR in, then manage booking, you should be able to to select seats easily via a seat map.

That’s what I did recently with a VFF redemption.

Through the QR app

Per OP I can select seats for no fee for the return leg (and have done)

But not the outbound leg. I’m being asked to pay $160 to Doha, and $146 for the next flight to Europe.

VA and QR have no idea why.
