Hi all,

I have read the extensive T&C's on the Qantas website in regard to access to International Lounges, and think I have it 99% sussed, BUT, I am reading elsewhere that some QC members are getting access to American Airline lounges as part of the OneWorld alliance deal.

I believe these members *may* be Bronze or Silver Qantas Club members, and thus able to enter somehow (although the T&C's don't clearly show this). As I am neither (paid for a simple Corporate QC membership, no colour), and we are using AA to travel from San Fran - New York, and New York to Paris shortly, can anyone 100% tell me I would be able to enter an AA partner lounge with my partner in the above situation?

We are flying JAL to get from Paris to Tokyo, but I'm pretty sure that is 100% *not* a lounge access possibility, due to it being a JL flight (even though on a OneWorld RTW ticket).

Any help appreciated.

My understanding concurs with yours. Refer here. You should have access to Admiral's Club (with guest, but always subject to the 'overcrowding' rule) in SFO (assuming there is one here) and NYC by virtue of of your Qantas Club membership (and given your onward flights are on AA). There are no 'levels' of paid QC membership - QC Silver would just refer to a Silver level QFFer who happens to have paid QC membership as well.

You should get drinks vouchers at the ACs as well (the bar is a pay-for facility) - ask for them at reception if they're not offered. Allegedly you should be able to keep going up and getting more (within reason) should you need them!

And you won't be able to access a lounge at CDG, as the QC arrangement is with AA and BA only, as 'partner' airlines.

Your corporate Qantas Club membership is no different to what others may be calling QC Silver or QC Bronze. The colour is just referring to their status within the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. Your Qantas Club membership gives you automatic membership of Qantas Frequent Flyer and as such you hold one level of status within the program. The starting point for all members of Qantas FF program is Bronze, then you can earn status through flying up to Silver, Gold and Platinum.

So if you have no special Qantas FF status, you are in fact at the Bronze level. And being a paid Qantas Club member, you could be referred to as being Qantas Club Bronze (a Qantas Club member with Qantas Frequent Flyer Bronze status).

As other have said, a Qantas Club member may use American Airlines Admirals Club lounges when departing on an AA flight. This hold for both domestic and international flights. This is not a OneWorld benefit, but an agreement between Qantas and America Airlines and also extends to British Airways as well.

As a Qantas Club member you should be provided with complementary drinks voucher when you enter the lounge as the AA lounges operate a paid bar service. It is common, but not essential, to tip the barman when using the complementary drinks vouchers. I normally tip $1 for an alcoholic beverage, but not for a soft drink or water etc.

Generally, QC members can access AA or BA lounges with one guest when flying with that airline. This is regardless of the tier of membership (e.g. NB) However you need to be Gold or better to be able to access other oneworld lounges.
