Couldn't find this elsewhere

Post over at AusBT supported by thread on airliners.net revealing that Qantas will be reconfigging its A380s (all of the current 10) and the next two deliveries over 2012 into a new config to add seats. Nothing on the config of #13 and #14 (which were previously without F)

Post suggests the changes are mostly on the upper deck with two rows of business going (8 seats), three premium economy seats added, and 39 economy seats - likely some galley and toilet reconfigs as well

In relation to the reduction of Business in the existing 388's, this was announced by Qantas over a year ago. It was missed by many due to the same announcement stating some future 388 deliveries would not have First.

How can they possibly they fit an extra 39 economy seats on the main deck without changing first class? That sounds like a very tight squeeze.

More details of the old announcement were published quite a few days ago on QF source:

21st November 2011 - New A380 Seat Count Revealed.

QANTAS have revealed that the seat count for the remodelled 4 Class A380s will be 14F/64J/35W/371Y. We understand that an extra 9 Economy seats will be placed on the lower deck and a new 30 seat Economy Cabin will be placed at the rear of the upper deck with Premium Economy moving forward to the current rear Business Class cabin. These increases will be enabled by re-siting some toilets and remodelling the galleys.

Something really doesn't add up here:

A Qantas spokeswoman confirmed to Australian Business Traveller that while the swanky 14-seat first class cabin remains at the pointy end, an extra 39 seats will be squeezed into the economy cabin situated behind this, boosting the 'cheap seats' count from 332 to 371.

On the A380's upper deck, eight seats will be dropped from business class (going from 72 down to 64) while the rear premium economy section will gain three seats (up from the current 32).

this is the CORRECT info on where the seats will be located..split between upper and lower decks and rejigging of some galley/lavs components

If you want consistency, would having the same product for Medium Haul and Long Haul international not make sense for an airline like QF?
Seems not; they appear to want a different hard product for domestic Oz/short-haul international (<5 hours) than they do for longhaul.

I agree for TT and Noumea, but the comment was more for HKG and SIN from all Mainline ports where (currently) you have the options of connecting through to LHR etc.

Something that was not missed though was the lack of information regarding the 333's, and QF's plans for them.

Bear in mind that, once the QF 787s start appearing, the A330s will be moved back onto QF domestic routes.

As Lyall Strambi said recently, the plan for QF international is to have just two aircraft types: A380 and B787 (obviously after the A330s have gone back to domestic to replace the 767s and the B747s have been retired, so it may take the best part of a decade for this to come to fruition). QF domestic will then have an A330 and B738 fleet.

Here is what I would like to see in new reconfiguration:

I hope they reconfigure the toilets and galleys in J class upstairs.
Firstly, having toilets surrounding the galley is just gross, those two smells should not merge.

Secondly the traffic congestion is just ridiculous with people cueing into the aisles and galley with staff trying to get through with meals and drinks.:arrow:

Thirdly - The toilets are just sooo small and very underwhelming compared to other airlines J class amenities.

Lastly - The other thing would be providing a nice bar area/lounge, I have never seen anyone use the front lounge and "The bar" is just token, put them together and create something nice that J & First can use.

Isn't that the standard config for a vast majority of international jets?

Business class will have two toilets located at the rear of the cabin as the current J galley will end up being a little smaller.
