Is the following a glitch in the QF any seat award cancellation system or is it correct. I booked the deal of a life time tonight using any seat awards (IMHO anyway!)

The booking is classed as a Business Saver and the conditions for cancelling the booking state:

Cancellations (including no show)
  • Before departure (Not applicable to Qantas Any Seat Awards):
    • A cancellation fee of A$375 per person applies.
  • After departure (Not applicable to Qantas Any Seat Awards):
    • The refund will be the difference (if any) between the fare paid and the applicable fare for the journey travelled, less A$375.
  • Qantas Any Seat Award:
    • If this is a Qantas Any Seat Award, this fare is not refundable.
  • Note: If this fare is combined with another fare the most restrictive cancellation conditions apply.
So I decide to test the system by hitting the Cancel Flights button for my booking with no intention of cancelling but wanted to see what happened and I got the following screen:
(some content edited for privacy.)
You are about to cancel the flights shown for all passengers.

The value of the booking will be created into a credit voucher that is valid until 18 August 2009. The voucher when redeemed online will be for all passengers for the same itinerary.

To redeem the credit voucher go to qantas.com/yourbooking. Any applicable change fees or fare difference apply at time of redemption. A service fee will apply for a voucher redeemed through Qantas Telephone Sales.

Acknowledgement

I have read and accept Terms and Conditions.

COULD THIS BE SO TRUE! Now I am not cancelling my booking to see if it will indeed create a voucher for the amount above but the booking conditions seem to indicate I am entitled to nothing but they are offering me a voucher for $1128.

On another topic it is intersting that I spent 122,382 points on this booking and I calculate the points value based on the voucher amount at 1 cent per point.
Any ideas here team!!!!

Ok, should have hunted harder but think I found the relevant clause as below:

15.6 Qantas or Jetstar Any Seat Award - tickets cancellation & refunds
15.6.1 Any Seat Awards are non-refundable unless otherwise specifically stated in the applicable Fare Conditions.
15.6.2 An Any Seat Award:
(a) will not be refunded after commencement of travel; and
(b) can only be refunded in full (and will not be partially refunded).
15.6.3 A refund of an Any Seat Award will only be made in accordance with the applicable Fare Conditions and these Terms and Conditions. Any refund of an Any Seat Award will be made by re-crediting Points redeemed to the Member's account and refunding any money paid to the Member's Accepted Payment Card, less any applicable refund fee set out in the Fare Conditions. Unless otherwise specified in the Fare Conditions, any such refund fee will be deducted first from the Points to be re-credited to the Member and then, if required, from money to be refunded to the Member's Accepted Payment Card. A minimum refund fee of 5000 Points will apply to Any Seat Awards.
15.6.4 Unless stated otherwise in these Terms and Conditions, where an Any Seat Award is cancelled, and the applicable Fare Conditions provide that the original fare may be used as a credit towards the payment of a new fare, and the original fare or commercial ticket value (as referred to in the Fare Conditions) is required for this purpose, then the original fare or commercial ticket value of the Any Seat Award will be calculated as the remaining dollar value of the unused ticket (or booking in the case of a Jetstar Any Seat Award) determined in accordance with the Fare Conditions.

I guess the $1128 value on my ticket is the "commericial ticket value" for the Any Awars Seat. $1128 commercial value for a First Class SYD-BKK and a Business class MEL-SYD, now that's commercial.

They are selling the same fare right now for $4704 J class and $5600 F class. Hmmm. That shows you how much they value your points when you cancel a booking. I guess at least you get money back which is nice.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
