I surprised myself today by booking a any seat award flight from NTL - BNE - when I swore I'd never do that.

The flight was retailing at $438 but was available for just 13,000 points. I ended up using the slider function and paid $50 to get it for 8,000 (I have 300,000 points but I'm a tightarse when it comes to using them).

Any idea why it was so cheap? I thought the rate was fixed to the dollar value of the fare? There were classic awards available on the same day but this way I get SCs (well double at the moment).

It's fixed to the amount of classic award inventory generally, after that I don't know. There are numerous threads that mention this.

Certainly very good value for you!
