Hi, I managed to grab a J class BA award flight to BKK on 30 Nov for a little jaunt back for some R&R, does anyone know if the NEW Club World has been done on this route yet? Unfortunately its BA economy on the way back.. but i'll try to make the most of it on the way up and drink enough champers for you all :D

Went out on Tuesday night and returned last night, new club world all the way!

Enjoy hgwells01, but don't be too disappointed if you get the old seats, they are still very good (IMO), and the service is the same. Best seats for me are: 64A,K, 62A,K, 14A,K, 20A,K

I'll note those down and see what I can get, since its an award flight I think I can only check in online day before, and as hubby is travelling with me, i'll try to get us seats together, but when its award travel, I guess you get what you can.

I believe you can still select your seats on ba.com MMB if you've got at least oneworld sapphire status.

I recently flew BA J in the NNCB configuration, and really don't see what people love about it. I know that some people really love it though.

Uggh! I hate the A/K seats. It's very hard to get out when the pax in the seat behind/next to you has extended their bed into full bed position.

The staff keep passing food over you and into the hidden seats behind. The cabins are stuffy based on the poor decisions from BA to not have individual vents.

The tv and tray tables in certain seats are already starting to get sticky and hard to open/deploy. THe lights are in poor positions, and the sliding windo just looks and feels cheap and tacky.

There is very limited storage space around the bed.

IMHO, there is nothing special about it at all.

Mal, Trust me when i say any J seat is better than a Y seat !
But i have to agree about the A/K comments, ok for me to climb over but i could imagine a lot of people it would simply not be a possible thing to do.
Thing i hate is how short the bed is :(

OK, given that I can only check in 24 hrs before, what seats should I be looking for availability on, bearing in mind i'd like to have he who thinks he should be obeyed in tow

Actually, I believe being in the A or K seats ensures that you get reduced service from staff as they face the same issue with either jumping over a sleeping pax, or waking up another sleeping pax so that they can pass things through the divider. I find it so tacky that at multiple times on one of my flights, the cabin crew leant over me, opened the divider and then passed food over me to the pax beside me (I was in an Aisle seat for that flight). Anyways, some people love it - obviously not me :D

Agree that any J seat is better than Y :)

Have a look for the E/F combo downstairs. Should be good for partners, not so good for strangers :)

If you're on the upper deck, that should also be ok as long as you get 2 seats together. Note that if this is the case, you'll end up having the cabin between you and your partner (but can chat etc by winding down the divider). As I indicated before, I would stay away from A/K seats like the plague (but that's only my personal opinion).

The issue with the A/K seats existed with the previous J class, so nothing new there.

Of course, the A/K seats at the rear of each cabin (e.g. 14A downstairs on a 744 on the older config) have their own entry/exit and the staff walk around to serve you.
