They were after 744 crew to go to Singapore the other day. Who knows...?

On February 18th QF used a 747 for QF91/92 SYD-NOU. But that time was weather related apparently (flight previous day had been cancelled).

Apparently a A330 (VH-EBP) was reported on another forum going tech in SYD, hence the 744 substitution.

Lucky sods! I think that's the only aircraft with Qantas I haven't been on.

I'd be getting in quick then...

I'm getting the feeling that as more and more leave the fleet we'll be seeing more substitutions since they no longer have routes which they "own".

JNB and SCL are still only operated by the 747 or am I missing something? In the case of JNB my understanding is that as long as it's direct SYD-JNB it will have to be a 747.

You're right, forgot about them :)

I was debating being on the last flight or one of the last flights but I don't know when that is. I don't really want to fly to JNB or SCL though.

They are still doing SYD-SFO on a semi regular basis. I flew in one a week ago, and I'm doing it again next month.

The regular QF 747 routes are HND (daily), JNB (6 weekly), SCL (3 weekly) and SFO (6 weekly) from SYD as well as seasonal YVR and HNL. Planned HNL return to A330 was pushed back from expected end April to end August.

Once 787 9 and 10 arrive, it is likely that SFO will go to 747, possibly moving up to daily flights. Assuming the AA/QF JV is approved, AA may start LAX-MEL flights, with QF moving the 2 weekly MEL-LAX to SFO (which would balance out seat loss to SFO with 747 removal).

HND changing to 787 would likely be after that, with a added return of SYD-NRT for a double daily to Tokyo.
