? is I am flying tsv-bne 15/10 economy, then 16/10 business qf15 bne-lax. Seeing as I'm not flying direct on the one day for int'l connection, can I still take 2 suitcases in economy the day before int'l flt? I'm qf gold, but not sure that matters on economy flt.
Many thanks.

If ticketed together on the same PNR, then yes. In fact, as QF Gold you can have 3 pieces.

If ticketed separately then it depends on your ticket issue date for the domestic allowance.

the flts. are not ticketed on one pnr. i'm going to brisbane day before int'l flt. and have not booked as yet for this particular flt. i'm unsure if i'll be allowed my two checked baggage on economy and not connecting to int'l same day. usually i fly down same day as int'l connection or else if fly down previous day to int'l flt., fly business so no problems with having 2 suitcases. this time just doing economy.

Technically, the answer would then be no.

But you could always try on the basis that you are connecting to a North America itinerary.

Just take a copy of your international itinerary with you as continuing on to the US the next day so even though your bags are only checked to BNE you are still entitled to receive the 'piece' system allowance.

Having said that, you're checking in at T3 which is now Next Gen checkin so this is a classic example of the computer only recognising your domestic baggage allowance. Hopefully they will have plenty of floorwalkers to assist as this scenario calls for human intervention.

Officially, the new baggage policy says that the onward international itinerary has to be on the same PNR as the domestic flight to receive the international allowance right through.

At least that's what they've explicitly published as per the link above.
