We have a flight to US coming up although MEL-SYD is in domestic and international sector leaves from SYD. Previously I have only ever travelled internationally from MEL when going overseas.

I understand that there is a special international transfers check in area although this gets very busy.

Is it true that the Domestic Business class check-in can be used (if travelling in business) and that they can cope with the international requirements (- ie entering passport number into reservation and entering hotel address details for US immigration authorities)?

[All travel is on Qantas in business]

I've used this a couple of times in the last year.

Small queues in both instance; however the second time we were called across to an adjacent J check-in counter.

I've often seem the J area fare more crowded than the International Connections Counters.

I'd simply look at the queues and evaluate your options on arrival.
