Does anyone know if/when the Melbourne International Business Lounge will change from being open only prior to QF flights to being open all day?

QF website states:
Lounge opening hours are four hours before the Melbourne to Singapore flight (QF35), Melbourne to London Heathrow flight (QF9), Melbourne to Los Angeles flight (QF93) and closes once these flights depart. At all other times the lounge will be closed.

Just as a word of warning- despite now having both the First and Business class lounges open again at SYD, Qantas still firmly prohibits Fiji Airways business class travellers from entering, even if Qantas WP.

Went to the American Express lounge instead so middle finger to Qantas (once again- third time in one week) where I got treated like some second class citizen and lectured that “Qantas has nothing to do with One World Connect, this isn’t One World Sir” which is obviously a lie. Or lack of knowledge- she was neither the smartest nor the friendliest.

Why on earth is the Rockhampton lounge still closed? The renovations during 2020 were supposed to take a few months...

Should have access if it's a QF flight number on FJ metal.

For FJ Oneworld connect is a complicated table for lounge access

Others may know better but I think they open 1 hour before the first flight of the day

That was me. I suspect that was a one-off though due to staffing shortages on easter weekend. Most of the time they open at 5am.

Thanks eric2011 & encryptededdy . I just hope that they open, otherwise wandering around Melbourne airport at 4-5am is not appealing at all :-( .
I called their phone so many time and no one answers.

Just in case anybody thinks I never criticise Qantas - I put in a complaint this morning for the food selection at the BNE DOM J lounge. Based on yesterdays visit but I have noticed similar on my last three visits in the past month.

It was terrible. There was a minestrone soup and a slow cooked pork in apple sauce. Honestly couldn't tell the two apart - the pork was mostly red liquid with a couple of tiny pieces of meat. I don't know how they cooked the rice, but it was like a paste. And yet again, outside in the QP, they're serving meat pies and potato wedges. I've noticed over my last three visits the selection in the QP is better than the J lounge.

Anyway feedback sent, I asked for a reply.

That's so sad to hear, the Brissy Dom lounge used to be one of my favourites in the pre-Covid days. I sometimes even on purpose booked AKL-BNE-SYD so that I could stuff myself for two hours in the Brissy lounge and hence wouldn't need to eat anything at home anymore Friday nights. That's really a shame to hear 😢

I think the hot food selection is factored on having The Oven (formerly The Cantina) open - but without this it's worse than the QP.

It just seems silly, if money is tight, if staff are short - fine - but what you're doing for the QP - do that for the J lounge as well.

Yes, that oven section with the previously TexMax kinda food had been awesome and was the main reason for my occasional dinner detours through Brissy. Sad that it's gone.

It's not gone - it just hasn't been staffed for the last month.

I guess due to staffing issues. I'm sure there's the intention to bring it back - I think people were reporting the same of the Spice Bar in MEL.

The ongoing post Covid problem, yes. Fingers crossed that it will all go back to "normal" once the pandemic is well and truly over.

Apart from that Monday to Friday office thing- I am personally more than happy to never have to do this again 😛
