Hey all,

I'm fairly close to becoming FF Gold with Qantas. I'm heading to Los Angeles from Brisbane (QF15) with onward travel to Toronto... but I do not have the Toronto section booked yet.

Now i could book that with Air Canada and get aeroplan miles (which i have plenty of)
or i could book it with AA and get Qantas FF... but you can't get Qantas points on seats booked in O or Q and any other seat seems to jump from $450 return to over 3000. These flights are also operated as QF 3245 outbound and QF 3246 inbound... is there any way to book the tickets as QF and get points as "discount economy"?

any help is appreciated.

Welcome to AFF mikekhoury :D

You can generally* only book the QF codeshares if on the same booking as a QF flight from/to Australia. You may be able to do so if you can get cross-linked tickets, but to do that you'll need to services of a TA or to call Qantas to do so.

If booked on the Qantas codeshare flight numbers you earn as for any QF flight.

Hmm, looking at this, the N fare (which does earn) is 1½-2½ times the cost of the O/Q fares.

O/Q base fares range from USD372-USD546 and N starts from USD1036.

Have you considered changing your BNE-LAX for to BNE-JFK on QF and getting an N class AA fare LGA-YYZ for USD400?
