I have a flight booked thru qantas with a qf number that is operated by jetstar. Does anyone know whether I can checkin at qantas? Have my 3 kids with me so would be a lot easier with priority checkin

Cheers

Without checking I don't really know, but experience with codeshares on other airlines would suggest not - I had to check in with the operating airline :(

Unfortunately no, The operating carrier (JQ in this case) handles all the check-in etc. for their flight so you will need to check in at the Jet* counters at the airport.

Hate to be the bearer of more bad news but Qantas Frequent Flyer benefits such as Priority Check-in do not apply when flying Jet*, Sorry:(

However you can still access the Qantas Club

Cheers,

Thanks for the feedback. Thought that was the case but was having second thoughts looking at the qantas eticket. Might just have to get there early to chill in the lounge

Is OLCI an option when booked through qantas? I've only had one domestic that was booked direct with jetstar. If it is an option remember that OLCI opens 48 hours before the flight.

Yes it is, you need to retrieve your Jetstar booking reference (Not the Qantas one on the itinerary) from checkmytrip.com

Once you have that you can check in at T-48 on jetstar.com with your Jet* booking reference

i might do that, still have to wait for the bag drop though so not sure if its worth it

Can you travel light enough to use carry on only :?:
From the JQ site:
'Cabin Baggage limits are strictly applied. Each Passenger (except infants not occupying an aircraft seat) is permitted 1 main item of Cabin Baggage and 1 other small item, with a total combined weight of up to 10kg for Jetstar (JQ)'

Unfortunately wont be able to, three kids under 5 (one infant) so will need to take a fair bit of cough (and will be a fun trip). Made me think though

With carry-on only (Up to 10Kg each) you could even have checked-in at the QP or JL, bypassing OLCI and JQ check-in altogether.

Note though - from what I have see those who arrive at the airport with their OLCI BPs printed out often have a priority queue at the bag drop.

As posted this IS incorrect. You can OLCI and/or check in at the QP.

I did correct myself with the OLCI. But the QP check in completely slipped my mind

So effectively you have 3 options when flying JQ on a QF flight number (QF5xx_):

1) Airport counter check-in at the JQ counters

2) Check-in at the Qantas Club (With hand luggage only)

3) Online check in

Well I was pleased to see 20+ people in the qf business line and 0 in the jetstar line so was served immediately. Sweet

Well at MEL I was quite firmly told that even though I had a BP from OLCI I had to queue with everyone else to get to bag drop-no priority queue-apart from those for pax on flights about to close-so 50% of pax got to use those lines!

Is the MEL JQ check-in area still undergoing renovation?
