QF Statue Competition

I don't think I would like this statue in my entrance hall but there could be some interesting guesses as to the components.

Does anyone wish to claim the loincloth?

Mrs shelf received the email yesterday, looking forward to winning it ;)

Wonder if it wiull be status/points earning - I know most competitions are not but given they are advertising the oneworld explorer fare...

Interesting with all of the "QF is leaving OW" comments to see the OW explorer fares being heavily advertised currently...

It's not - see #12 in the T&Cs.

Frequent Flyer - Member Specials - Oneworld Explorer Competition Terms and Conditions

It doesn't say anything about crediting to other OW programs. I wonder what booking class it would be booked under, guessing D for a DONEx. If it was the award version and came out of U inventory, it would have a huge impact on availability.

I've entered... looking forward to writing the trip report already :P

Prize value is $34K for two. Is that a DONE6?

And I notice that the prize doesn't include hotel car parking, but says nothing about accommodation. I have some experience with these RTW thingies, and even the shortest involves some accommodation requirements. Surely Qantas does not intend the winners to just string the flights together?

I usually work on a figure of $100 a day for expenses when travelling. Accommodation, meals, transport and so on. As a very rough guide. That won't actually buy much in the way of comfortable living, but if you are careful and thoughtful, it's enough to live on.

The quickest I've ever done one of these things is ten days. There's going to be a few overnight flights, but you are still looking at at least seven nights where you need a place to lay your head. Two weeks to a month is far more likely and even then that could get fairly rushed if you want to tick a lot of boxes. And fairly expensive.

A very generous prize indeed, but for some of us, it could be one we can't afford to win.
