Ahh, that explains the tweet from @QantasAirways this morning along the lines of "something interesting is happening at gate 10 soon". I wanted to ask at which airport ...

I don't think it counts as a "flashmob" when Qantas hire them.

From the YouTube...

Thank you so much - my daughter is in this - very cool!!
She dances at Select Dance Co in Moorebank who were asked to provide dancers!!!

Flashmob is an ad agency term for a hired crowd that breaks into dance.

I doubt you'd ever find this happening without some form of organization.

Good work QF, nice and fresh!

fruitless exercise.

the point of flashmobs/advertising campaign is to reach potential customers.

they were dancing at qantas boarding gates?? they're already customers??

half the people watching the 'flash mob' were probably the parents of those kids.

Seems everyone's getting on the 'flash mob' bandwagon. lazy people in marketing.

I burst into laughter when I saw this, I can just imagine my sticking my head out of the meeting rooms only to see this. Very unlike of QF. But I enjoyed it, they did a good job.

I thought all the rif-raff stayed in T2? :p

Whats next in their hat?

Well, if it's not on Wiki it can't be true ;)

We used the term internally when I was at an ad agency (tough times but that's another story).

Not sure I said wiki was true with words like "apparently". However, it is a starting point for the meaning of terms like flashmob. But by the same token we could also say that what ad agencies think they are doing doesn't make them correct either. ;)

...and 4 people hardly constitutes a crowd.

The qantas pictures seemed to have more than 4 people.
