Noticed on the front of the Australian today that Virgin were offering QF Gold + Plats access to the lounge.

I presume this is similar to the Canberra offer and you will get access, leave some details and in a few weeks get offered a staus match.

Any more details such as a link, valid period and locations?

Hi - the ad was on the front page of the hard copy Australian.

If you go to
The Australian SmartEdition

you can look at todays front page - the ad is right at the bottom.

The heading says

Business travellers, there are no disruptions in the lounge.

It then says QF golds and plats can visit the lounge with compliments of Virgin Blue for a limited time

Really? I paid a visit to the Canberra lounge using my QF gold card, and never got a status match.

The link posted does not give any details as to the conditions etc applicable, methinks it was a rush job!

Sounds like a good offer if there are no conditions attached other than QF Gold or Platinum status.

With possible SYD-BNE weekly commuting some flights will more than likely be on DJ so would be nice to have lounge access without having to go to the other side of the terminal.

Hi there

Bit more rooting around came up with this on the access page of "The Lounge" website :

  1. Promotional Offer: Business Flyers, There are no disruptions in The Lounge.

The offer is available only until 31 July 2008 and only valid at The Lounge located at Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide Domestic Airports. The offer includes all normal Virgin Blue lounge membership benefits at no charge. The promotional offer allows all Qantas Platinum and Gold Frequent Flyer Members to invite one Guest to accompany them to The Lounge at no extra charge in accordance with The Lounge terms and conditions.
Access is available regardless of which carrier the Qantas Frequent Flyer Platinum or Gold Member is travelling on the day. For Qantas Platinum and Gold Frequent Flyer Members, entry is subject to presentation of a valid Qantas Plantium or Gold Frequent Flyer Membership card. You agree that personal information provided may be used in accordance with The Lounge terms and Conditions of Membership.
Entry is subject to The Lounge terms and conditions of membership and terms used have the same meaning as the defined terms therein. The Lounge terms and conditions are available online at virginblue.com.au/thelounge or at the reception desk at The Lounge.
So you can be flying any airline and still get in with QF SG or WP including a guest.
Cheers

This could be very useful to those tending toward the 'dark side' :!:

An easy way to wet the feet without jumping right in. Pity I'm not flying anywhere this month.

My thoughts exactly. I think this offer will get a good reception. Why not "pop in and check out the DJ lounge" to see what it's like? I would if I was flying domestically before 31/7!

Hi there

Doesn't mention you have to be flying, just travelling, go out to the airport on the Skybus with a return ticket and enjoy "The Lounge"

Cheers

Like straitman, I have no planned domestic flights in July:(. However, if I don't need to be flying, I would consider visiting the airport to check the DJ lounge out....

Based on the published terms and conditions I should be able to evaluate the SYD and BNE lounges next week.

Can you please ask if you need to be flying to enter?;)

Interesting timing!! Trying I suppose to tempt QFFers disaffected and/or disppointed by the 'enhancements' to QFF - and why not?

Well a reason at last why I should have stayed with QFF.;)

I've been flying down to CBR (from SYD) on DJ because the planes aren't crowded and they actually take off on time. Been using the DJ lounge in Sydney (via Priority Pass, since I didn't know of this offer). It's a nice lounge - usually quiet and there's no queue for the "barista service" that QANTAS has been touting as a benefit of its lounges.
