QF new Look Booking website

Yep, saw that too.
So, now, there is only 2 subclass of Y and 1 main class of J.
And the prices will go up closer to dep date.
Seems so easy when they (QF) want to do something, and so hard for us as customers, when we need or want something, near impossible.
Not happy (Jan)... or enter what name you want.

yeah

I'd outlaw all those $99 change fees
its a ridiculous charge for something that takes a jiffy to change
as the customer, you're the one doing the 2 minutes of work and being charged like a wounded bull for the privilege of "changing"

Wonder what subclass designator they will use for the subclass of Y, the one for the lower price of Y, and then flex, which might be full Y, and then what class of J, or is it I class.
U would still be upgradeable J.
With only 2 subclasses of Y, it would mean that its only 10 QFF SC and then the flex Y will be 25 QFF SC, (edit: no more 25 QFF SC, its only 20 now)), and no others, and J will be 40 QFF SC, and thats it on the shorter 3 capital city sector flights, ADL - MEL/vv, MEL - SYD/vv and ADL - SYD/vv.
Will go and have a look at the SC earn rates now.

Oooo, that is bad.
Only 10 QFF SC, as always for the Red E deal, but the flex is only 20 QFF SC, on short dom flight runs, and only one class of J, so thats 40 QFF SC.
No more flexJ for a higher earn, on shorter flight runs.
---
Cripes, they must have learnt a lot about us doing status runs, with this new website layout, it will indeed be harder amass SC!
---
No more flexJ, at 45 QFF SC, on shorter dom flight runs either, to buy for a rev fare that is.

Heh, sorry, maybe some QF staff members have been watching us, and collecting info on rev analysis, and doing that with VH's approval.

Always was the 2 types of Economy fares and 1 type of Business for domestic flights. Fares haven't changed since at least 2020.
Pricing is the same.

This was called out in the IT gripes thread a couple of days ago but definitely worthy of its own thread IMO.

As I mentioned in the other thread I like the new look but not being able to see the aircraft type at a glance really sucks - for example trying to scroll through the list of flights from MEL-SYD and needing to click on each one individually to try and seek out the A330 operated flights is a real pain in the cough.

Nothing has changed besides the layout of the website and how it's being sold to you.
Your 45 SC's are still there depending on the fare basis.

Wasnt there one more subclass of Y previously, thought that there were always 3 plus a J.
Umm, unless that is transTasman.

Ah, well, we (all) thought that, or maybe I did, think that VH would be a good replacement for QF.
---
Changes, ... bah humbug.

I looked up Sydney - Perth seeing the Test match starts there on the 14th

there are two SC earns for J 80SC the usual but 95SC if the price is higher

on one flight on 13th J is being sold for $4,095 ONE WAY

as for Y
the point you make about the FlexY regardless of pricing providing the same SC applies on the $953 and the $1,098 Tic on the 13th. (from vague memory, as the pricing went above the norm, so the SC's increased?)

For any changes like a website design, they have been in testing for around a year. This all happened on AJs watch. The change happening now is just coincidental, as with most other changes, it's not necessarily VH. Things go through a lot of process, internal red tape and data analytics to get this version of the sales page.

I thought it had sale, saver, flex and business.

Qantas???

(I should totally book this and argue false advertising)

For those wondering how to get this, if your booking page is stuck on Business from other international searches or you get to business from say the deals page this is what shows up.

You also can't get out of this as the option as business/economy search options doesn't show up on domestic routes anymore. At least not for desktop.

Give the conspiracy theories a rest huh?

absolutely NOTHING has changed in the backend here. Zero. As for "subclass of Y" - only "fare categories" for domestic has been split to "red-e-deal" and "flex" for a long time (as pointed out), and Business The actual mix of fares are still out there in terms of N fares, O fares, Q, H, K, etc

the UI has been made cleaner, but tbh has for years had the same functionality more or less. If you select the Y fare you get the cheapest available, and (cheapest) flex. Now, I think they should offer the J flex fare in the same way, and think that's a fail in that respect. I suspect, when domestic J sales are launched, as they have more restrictive conditions, that hopefully the UI will offer the sale and more flex fares (noting that the current setup showing the J fare are refundable and all the rest).

I'd also note this change has only been rolled out for domestic.

Probably the only people who would want to specifically book a full J or C fare, when lower D and I are offered for sale, will either be corporates (and have their own booking abilities) or enthusiasts with a lot of money, and there are ways to book those if one really wanted.

Just because it's not displayed doesn't mean the higher SC earning J fares aren't there - of course they are. eg your ADL-MEL/SYD earning 45 SC for J or C fares is still there.
