Hi All

I will be departing BKK 18.10 on a Sunday evening on QF in J (though its on Finnair metal and crew due to a wet leasing arrangement) and have c.7 hours to kill after hotel checkout. I will have been in BKK for a week, so rather than go for early lunch somewhere in town with baggage in tow, I'd prefer to spend those hours in the various OW lounges at the airport if possible, but acknowledge the usual 3 hr pre-flight check in desk timing (according to QF website, though airport website says 4hrs: https://suvarnabhumi.airportthai.co....departure_time.)

Unfortunately, I will have check in baggage. Does anyone know whether it's possible to check-in online, drop bags at a kiosk and head through security/immigration well in advance of the QF check in desk opening? I note that BKK does not seem to be listed as accepting mobile BPs (Asia and the Pacific: Adelaide, Auckland, Canberra, Chiang Mai, Melbourne, Perth, Phnom Penh, coughet, Seoul, Sydney, Tokyo), so it would seem at least a printed PB would be required.

Any advice/other ideas much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

We were in your position last year. I am afraid we had to wait for check in to open to check bags and get a boarding pass. They do check the BP as you head to security before Immigration.

On a side note. Depending on your status we found the Qatar lounge to be the best. Make sure you go to the dining area and scan the QR code for the sit down menu. I had the lamb cutlets and they were divine. Much better meal than what was served in J..

Thanks Resonate. If you had printed out BP following OCI, would you have been able to bag drop before check in opened do you know?

And QR lounge is definitely part of the plan!

The issue that you have is that there is no one there to bag drop to. When we were there QF didn’t have bay arrangement with another carrier to accept the bags or even print out bag tags.

The "Surf n Turf" is really good too.
