Hi My mother is going to fly out from LAX just after Thanksgiving. Looking at the 30th, there is the choice between QF108 or QF150. I have never flown 150 - are there any pro's or con's? In July the Qantas check-in woman referred to QF108 as QF-LATE - and it was three hours late that night - ouch! I was traveling with kids and no Qantas Club - the thought of waiting til 3 am with post-Disneyland kids was horrifying!

Secondly, she is currently all out of FF miles so starting from scratch - do the flight on AA or QF?

Finally - is there any way of finding anyone who might have a Qantas Club ticket in for my gorgeous mother that night (as she is flying economy - boo hoo)?

THANKS!

QF108 starts at JFK and continues through LAX to SYD. Its notoriously late leaving JFK and arriving into LAX. In fact, its often called QF10LATE around here.

When QF108 is significantly delayed, its common for Qantas to move people from the 108 onto the 150, especially if they a connection in SYD that may be at risk. So if you don't mind being late into SYD, it may mean the QF108 flight has a lighter load than the QF150.

But apart from that, there is no real difference in aircraft type, seat type, service etc.

Thanks for that - appreciated - I guess she will have to take her chances on QF LATE- she could only get her connection on the Saturday and QF 11 was sold out in economy - everyone wants to go on the new plane!

So hopefully that means there will be lots of seats on the QF LATE!

On the odd occasion that QF108 is on time out of JFK, what is the realistic time on the ground (ie. in the lounge!) available at LAX?

QF108 is scheduled to arrive into LAX at 21:55. So assuming an on-time arrival at the gate and say 20 mins to get off and to the lounge, you should be at the lounge around 22:15.

QF108 is scheduled to depart LAX at 23:45. So assuming you leave the lounge 30 mins before departure, you will be leaving the lounge at 23:15.

So an hour in the lounge would be a good estimate.
