Now that the A380 is being redirected to operate SIN-LHR it appears they are now trying to lure ex-HKG traffic too - presumably they will book them on to CX for the HKG-SIN leg (3K operates it too but J pax wouldn't go for it).

Can't get it to generate options on the QF.com booking engine though - anyone else have any success?

The fares are published. Route map: HKG-QF/CX/3K-SIN-LON

$1550 AUD in Y in S class, and $6110 AUD in J in I class for May 2018.

I've noticed QF also has fares ex-Malaysia and Thailand using the QF1/2 SIN/LHR.

Pricing will be the key to the route working...

If it is not good pricing it will be probably only a status run route!!!!

Pretty poor really - no cheaper than taking CX or BA direct.

But presumably extra SC/points bonus as you're flying QF metal/code instead of a partner. From what I can tell the SYD-LHR route via DXB in J is 280SC made up of 100/180. As Australia-SIN is 120SC that would make the remaining leg 160SC, add to that the 80SC HKG-SIN that gives you 240SC each direction, double what you would get flying direct on CX for example. If the pricing is right, and you're not too bothered by the extra flight time, it could make a big difference.

As an NB, you also get 7400 points each way direct in J, but 14100 points each way via SIN, and more if you have status, all of which can be used to upgrade your flight between SIN and LHR.

Fair enough if you're already in the platinum handcuffs but for the exHKG J market generally (forgetting FFP), what's the incentive to take QFF? All indirect routes price at a discount to CX/BA direct - even SQ is cheaper.

True, but I would imagine this is aimed at their existing flyers/members. It's not aimed at competing with SQ/TG/CX/BA etc... at least right now.

I also wonder since one can buy QF-coded EK tickets ex-BKK, KUL, SIN, CMB, (I think even MNL too), among others - whether originating in those ports the QF.com engine will show options that use QF metal via SIN.
