Just saw what looked like a QF A380 passing very, very low over the Melbourne CBD. Never seen one pass that low - honestly looked like it nearly clipped the top of Rialto.

Assuming there was no promotional purpose, was there any reason for this?

Maybe the pilot wanted to check an investment property in the CBD

At 3000 ft not that low:

Saw the same thing the day before I took the A380. It flies down over east melbourne to the SW Impressive. Maybe looks closer as so big.

bloody hell wait until NoNews hears of this!

Pretty regular occurrence when Rwy 34 in use and QFA94 is coming in.

And a with very clear morning in Melbourne today - would have made for fantastic viewing of (and from) the aircraft. :D

A380 just went past again this morning - had a great view of it over docklands driving down La Trobe St.
