Now that I've finally achieved QF Platinum, I'm wondering whether there is a way of receiving my status recognition if I book award seats using my AAdvantage miles. Is there a way to add your QFF number to such an award reservation?

Yes. Call AA to change the FF # to QF. I do this on all my AA redemptions. Then they will appear in My Bookings on qantas.com

The singular advantage (pun intended) to this approach is that OWE status will print on the BP, thus obviating the need to flash the platinum plastic, yes? Or am I missing something blindingly obvious?

I was right; it was something blindingly obvious. Thanks for that, Baysider. :)

Though I have found that it does not always appear on AA boarding passes.
