Fly - Baggage - Additional Baggage

Yes you can use points -but does this mean more rigid checking of weights on checkin??

"If you wish to travel with more than the free checked baggage allowance and your trip starts in Australia (and you are not travelling to Japan), you can pre-purchase an Additional Baggage Allowance before you go, at lower rates than Airport Excess Baggage rates.
Additional Baggage Allowance is available for purchase from Manage Your Booking from 7 days up until 3 hours before the scheduled departure of the next Qantas operated flight on your itinerary for trips starting in Australia (excluding flights to or from Japan), provided you have not checked in for the flight at the airport. You can pay for Additional Baggage Allowance using credit or debit card or by redeeming Qantas Frequent Flyer points."

They do seem to have got much better at enforcing the allowances and I would expect them to definitely do so if they are offering discounts in advance otherwise there would be some unhappy customers who pay whilst seeing someone else get away with extra
