I'm still waiting for Qantas to refund my ~50c from tax/surcharge/currency changes for an award last December. Was quite funny to be told I'd be refunded that amount - although it's never turned up!

Should I email and chase it up?

Indeed the refund can be quite advantageous sometimes - back in Jan I booked two SYD-LHR First award tickets for my in-laws, but last week called up to add a domestic leg and change them to CBR-SYD-LHR (same points). Ended up getting a few hundred dollars returned to me as the taxes & surcharges have changed since the first booking - so basically Qantas paid me to book an extra flight....

I booked a return MEL-LHR award flight back in August for travel in February.

The original return leg was via LAX with taxes coming out around $1550 .

After some J seats appeared via SIN, I was quite shocked to learn that $900 would be making its way back onto my AMEX only weeks before travel.. Cha ching!! :)

G`Day,

Yes, as previously said you must give Qantas credit. I had to cancel a award booking PER MEL x2 (cost me 10000 points!) but the tax/surcharge was credited immediately back to my Amex account.

Well done Qantas!.

Kind regards, Traveller F
