Ok this is late minute'ish but SYD/BNE-DFW $998 return ;)

Travel periods 16/5 - 30/11 ... however this must be booked by midnight tonight.

I caught a glimpse of these fares yesterday but didn't book. Does anyone know if the 747s have propper IFE in Economy? Looking for cheap flights in July/August and pricing up a lot of the airlines to see who comes up trumps!

On that note though.. that's a bloody long flight!!

If by "proper IFE" you mean AVOD (audio visual on demand) then yes. However, the units are not as advanced as those on the A380, although I believe there are plans to retrofit the existing 747 fleet with those systems when the 'downgrading' (ie. removal of First and other seating changes) occurs.

That's on the return with a stopover in BNE.

Its:

  • Outbound:
    • 15:25 SYD-DFW
  • Inbound:
    • 16:00 DFW-BNE
    • [-]02:00[/-]01:30 Layover in BNE
    • 01:35 BNE-SYD

<clears throat> ;) The timetable for both June and October indicates a total on the inbound flight(s) of 19:05 hours, including a stopover in BNE of 1:30.

Obviously it takes longer in May: 16:00+[-]02:00[/-]01:30+01:35 = 19:[-]3[/-]05.

That's odd ... I'll readily admit to being a bear of little brain when it comes to complex scientific matters such as crossing time zones ;), but QF8 through May shows:

QF8.jpg

E/F shows:
Code:
DFW
Terminal: D
21/05/11 10:00 PM BNE
Terminal: INTERNATIONAL
23/05/11 5:00 AM QF8 16h 00m
BNE
Terminal: INTERNATIONAL
23/05/11 6:30 AM SYD
Terminal: 1 INTERNATIONAL
23/05/11 8:05 AM QF8 1h 35m
Twas my calc wrong ... that's 30 mins less layover in BNE than I considered.

Will this be a QF service or Code Share with AA?
Not a bad way to enter the US. Plenty of routes to choose to go to the other cities from DFW.
My son picked up a ticket BNE/DFW Rtn @$990 and added DFW/SEA,with AA for around $US400 Rtn. (School holiday time too). Cheaper than BNE/LAX or BNE/YVR I think.
I wonder if they will sell this cheaply in the US to cash in on the Oprah hype?

A long flight for sure, but as long as there is a good food and beverage service and not the Jetstar rubbish I think he will be happy.
I wonder what else there is to Dallas besides the Grassy Knoll or the Texas Book Depository to see if you stop over there ?
Will he get FF points for the entire trip ?
