QF Trans-Tasman Upgrades

I'll likely be travelling from SYD to CHC in December on a QF Flex fare and am wondering how points upgrades work for these flights. In particular: is it handled like a domestic upgrade (i.e. if U space is available you'll get an upgrade) or like an international flight (i.e. lotto system?). And for those wondering why I'm bothering with the upgrade, I'm travelling OPM (for the first time in a long time) and for me spending 11,900 QF points on a 3 hour flight doesn't seem too bad. Yeah I know it's narrow body, but it's still not too bad!

It works the same as any other international flight, i.e. a lottery.

Yep. I have a MEL-CHC coming up and have requested an upgrade, but it's been showing J0 already for weeks.

Flights have been not just full but QF have been taking manual wait lists for some flights - we have had to lay down a pre-emptive grid of flights just to move our team around with some certainty. I've never seen it so busy!
