Hi all
I am off to Singapore today and requested an upgrade to F and it seems to have come through. The points have been deducted and it shows as travelling in F on checkmytrip. Just three questions. I assume that I will get F lounge access at SYD? Can I check in at the F desk or do I still check in at the J desk? Finally I assume that my AA points will post as J rather F as that was the paid ticket?
Cheers
S

P.s. Really lookin forward to my firrst F experience :D :D It might be a bit of a waste of points but I had 66K QF points doing nothing and no opportunity to upgrade to F until at least March next year - which will be a SYD-LAX flight that I will be requesting the upgrade the day after ticket is ticketed. Hmm interesting supplementary question - if my TA (who we all know is coughola doesnt ticket until the last minute then I can only request the upgrade at that point - might have to ticket early!)

You will get to flounge at SYD; just show your brown striped boarding pass at the flounge entrance.

Since you are in F, you can check in at the F check in desk; if you want to choose a seat now, you could phone QF and get a seat assigned before you go to the airport; looking at the seatmap for QF31, 3A and 3K are available as well as the centre pairs of 2EF and 3EF

How you points will credit is a mystery; you are only entitled to J credit, but it has been known to credit as F; doesn't make a huge difference, 2.5 miles earned vs 2.25 for evey mile flown

For your supplementary question, the upgrade cannot be requested until there is a ticket number in the booking, so get the TA to issue as soon as you pay

Thanks - should be an exciting/interesting experience :D I might get a taste for it ;)

Both times when I have upgraded to F on QF using QF FF points or upgrade credits, the trip has posted as First Class (P fare basis) to my AAdvantage account.

Well it was a very enjoyable experience - just wish I hadnt nodded off for 3 hours of it. I had never before thought that F would be such a difference - how wrong I was. I have been planning to get mrsimongr on a J award int'l flight late next year - now I need to work out how I can make one segment F :)

I even considered trying to find another flight out of SIN on Friday just to be able to try to upgrade but no decent/convenient 3 class fligths out.

I have to say again though that the F lounge at SYD was VERY disappointing. I actually considered going up to the QP.
